I was all geared up this afternoon to talk about how much patience I’ve learned in the recent past. The material lesson? My dumplings.

Frying frozen dumplings is not really all that complicated. You put some oil in a pan, then the dumplings, then some water. The amount of water? Well… to me this has never been a precise science. I just put enough in so that the dumplings are sitting in a good bit. Then cover it and let all the water boil off and the dumplings crisp up and there they are. Gorgeous.

Well here’s the problem: I am typically low in attention span and high in impatience. I want things done now. If I’m hungry, I want to eat now. AND I discovered early on that if I turn the heat to high, things happen faster. Water boils off faster, dumplings fry faster, I eat sooner. Unfortunately, because I am not paying attention my dumplings often burn their bottoms off … and I am not the type of person who enjoys cajun style. What a waste.

I was all set to say that at my ripe old age of 29 and a half I’ve finally learned to cook my dumplings on medium and pay attention. Patience pays off. But*sigh* I made dumplings this very day and though I put it on medium, I became utterly absorbed in other tasks. First, I was trying to figure out my brother’s PSN password, then my aunts and uncles came over and I got all caught up in the garden.

Would you blame me though? Look at these gorgeous plants

I was weeding again in the garden this afternoon. Actually, there aren’t any weeds really except for the oregano which is trying to strangle a peony plant!

Peonies looking like roses in the morning sun.

Another Sunday and another photo walk.

The spring flowers are all out in full force. Gorgeous!

Can’t wait for the May 2-4 so that the real planting can begin. This year I’m just going to do a lavender border and maybe some basil in pots. Last year I had so much difficulty with zucchini it was really surprising! My oregano has already started to spread itself over the whole garden so it’ll have to be weeded out again.
